How do I register to vote?

You can register to vote, check your registration, and get election reminders.

Each state has it’s own laws about registering. You can even register on Election
Day in Nevada. In other states, it may be weeks before the election, so plan ahead!

Choose your state on this site, enter your address and you’ll be shown where to vote.

What kind of ID do I need?

This varies from state to state.
Plan ahead!
See if your state requires an ID to vote.
Be sure you get one if you don’t have one already!

What is on the ballot?

Besides elections for public officials, many states will have issues on the ballot.

Know which races you can vote in and which issues will be decided.

KNOW who you’re voting for!

• Did they post a background check on transparencyinpolitics.info?
• Does your state have a voter guide?
• Who is giving them money? (Your Secretary of State, opensecrets.org)
• Who is endorsing them? (media and candidates’ own sites)

Do your homework! Once a candidate is in office, it’s VERY hard to get
them out!

When is Election Day?

Tuesday, November 5th is the national Election Day. 

If I can’t vote on that day, what can I do?

Absentee/Vote by Mail:
All states have absentee ballots or vote by mail. Some states mail them to voters automatically, and in some states, it must be requested. Check the requirements of your state.

Early Voting:
Many states have early voting, so check with you Secretary of State or local elections office.
