Lisa Wheeler, Florida
City Council member Lisa Wheeler-Bowman resigned on September 15th after she was accused by a former Mayoral candidate of not living in the district she represents. This was a violation of the city charter. A complaint was filed with the council and the claim was leveled against her publicly at a meeting of the St. Petersburg City Council. A background check would most likely have confirmed her residence as being outside of her district, thus avoiding an uncomfortable situation for all concerned, as well as not wasting time and money on something that could have been avoided. Addresses are not confirmed by the Registrar of Voters upon filing for office.
